Gardens!!

Last weekend we went to Washington Park where there are both the Japanese Garden and the Rose Test Garden for which the city is famous, after all, it is the City of Roses.

Are you stuck?

This is the latest fun in the household. Cat and dog are chasing one another, cat goes under the bed, dog goes under the bed, cat runs out, dog gets stuck b/c of her big head. Then the cat sits on the outside of the bed and bats at the stuck dog.

Notice the cheese that the dog can't reach on the carpet. I am convinced that the dog can get out, but choses not to. If you can get in, you can get out.

Oregon Strawberries!!!

We went over to Sauvie Island to pick strawberries which are in season.

Yes, this is my very white self....with my very white legs. Give me a break, I'm in Oregon where it just stopped raining last week. This is the first week that it's been above 65 degrees.
The pickers in the foreground, the mountain (one of them) in the background!

Two freshly made strawberry pies are in the freezer!

Manzanita (and sun!)

So the family (minus kitty) headed to Manzanita on the Oregon Coast for some much needed relaxation and sun (before it disappears again). Manzanita is a very small town just south of Cannon Beach.

Minnie very quickly made it her new home.

Yes, we are in hooded fleeces on the beach....I am very much looking forward to a WARM beach in the near future. But it was beautiful just the same. Minnie wasn't a big fan. The water was fun until she came out and realized that it was COLD. And sat down and shivered.

This is our beach house rental through a friend of a friend. Had a nice view of the ocean, was an easy walk to the business district, and was half a block from the ocean.

The great porch where Minnie decided to sun herself. That's the ocean in the background.

Arcadia Beach...had some amazing cliffs just off of the beach. A big surfer beach (if you're in a wetsuit).

Along our walk to get some coffee and pastries in the morning (hey, we're on vacation).

Portland Weather Blows

Literally.
It's 55 degrees and rainy, and windy. And it's been like that since November of last year. We are headed to the Oregon beach this weekend and am optimistic for some warmth. Hopefully.

Birthday

This was a marathon day. Starting at 5am with breakfast that Eric made. We were on completely opposite schedules all day. That was the only time before his 7am class and my 8:30 meeting and all afternoon workshop and his evening class that we could see each other. Then we got together for cake and presents at 10pm.

My first vegan cake...funny, it didn't taste granola. Just kidding. It was key lime flavored with real lime and a wonderful coconut frosting. And NO dairy. It tasted really good. I guess when in Rome...

Silver Falls

This was one muddy puppy....completely freaked out by the sound of rushing water from the falls. Definitely an urban dog.
