2nd Anniversary!

We celebrated our Anniversary on Tuesday. We forgot the digital camera so we had to rely on our camera phones which is why everything is slightly foggy and fuzzy. Or maybe it was the wine. We started the day with couples massages which were wonderful. Then we went to Veritable Quandry for lunch which has a wonderful glazed in dining area. It's like a little oasis in the middle of the city. And it felt kind of fun to not be at work and drink wine at lunch on a Tuesday.

I had special labels made for the Cabernet Franc that we had on our honeymoon to celebrate our 2nd anniversary! They had it waiting for us at the restaurant.

So we found a local wedding cake lady to make a small little anniversary cake version of our wedding cake! I sent her a picture of the top and she did a great job. Chocolate cake with ganache and raspberry filling. They were wonderful at the restaurant and were more than happy to serve it b/c it looked so pretty.

A toast to the 2nd year.

Boston Terrier Picnic 2008

So this is the Boston Terrier Picnic. The breeder and her mom and the stud's mom host it now for the second year to see all the dogs get back together. This year we had 30 boston terriers and their families. It was kind of insane. They all hype each other up. No dog fights or anything, everyone got along. It was complete with contests, games, prizes, and dog brownies (the treat kind not the other kind.)

This is her brother from her litter. He is still with the breeder. She and he played the whole time she was with them this summer, though he has gotten considerable larger since then. This is the dog that humped Minnie her whole vacation there, probably scarred for life.

Miss Minnie won the 'best kisser' award and 'smallest dog'. It's all VERY scientific with judges and everything! Just kidding. I did not volunteer to be a judge for the best kisser.

This is Eric wondering what he got himself into when he said he'd come along.

Minnie's dad. Very mellow and regal. He's seven. We're hoping this eventually is what Minnie will be. One can hope.
Minnie came in 3rd in the costume contest as a princess with a tutu. This is also her Halloween costume so you're all getting a preview. She did try to eat it so I'm not sure how long it will last for trick or treat.

This is Minnie's mom Stormy who didn't like Minnie so much when she stayed at the breeders on vacation. She's pregnant again and was out of sorts a bit. They only have one litter a year and it arrives about the same time each year. She was very grumpy as she's going to deliver the pups around October 13. I think I would be grumpy too.

The mayhem. There were up to 20 more dog crates with dogs to the left of the pavilion.

Oh, and stay tuned. Minnie turns 1 in October. Hard to believe we made it through the first year. Thank god.

Minne and Lightning continued

Well last weekend was Katie's turn to watch the furry friends, this weekend was ours. We stopped by to play with Lightning and make sure she was ok. Minne and her play constantly - the kitten is just as bad. She stalks Minnie and bats at her ears.

Water time...the kitten follows Minnie everywhere.

Must be special water. Lightning had to check it out as well.

Minne and Lightning

Stay tuned for some hilarious pictures of Katie's kitten and Minnie. Minnie stayed over at Katie's all weekend and the kitten and her played for 2 days straight. They were best buds...sometimes too much. The kitten even helped herself to Minnie's food. Both collapsed at the end of a hard day of playing. It's a rough life.

Bend

So we headed out to Bend to meet up with Kathy, Jeff, Butch, and Becky for a Minnie free, pre-anniversary weekend. Weekend 2 of their Oregon Trip. The crew at the famous Pines Tavern. Wonderful food along the Deschutes River. Weekend 3 this friday we will see them for the last time back in Portland for dinner.

They rented a ski vacation home that was a great location for both summer and winter. I could imagine in the winter it is often booked as it is right down the road from both downtown Bend as well as Mt. Bachelor.

Eric has graduated out of his sling. This was the last night while we were all making dinner.

The hot tub outside.
Sisters, Oregon...a cowboy themed town.

No, it's not Arizona. Those are the 3 sisters mountains behind us. The landscape is dramatically different once you cross over the Cascades. The green lush landscape is replaced by desert like brush. But the mountain views are incredible.
